What do Las Vegas artists photograph when they travel? How does living in a tourist destination mediate the experience of actually being a tourist? Las Vegas perpetually presents itself as a brand-destination with a logo, a wild cast of characters and a series of not-to-be-missed attractions. In these transient times, perhaps we are all tourists, endlessly seeking and presented with opportunities for exploration, entertainment and visual seduction that are novel and provoking.

Six local artists were invited to participate and submit images responding to notions of travel and tourism. The results are not your typical "tourist" shots, offering unexpected views of journeys ranging from cross-country road trips to excursions through metropolitan Tokyo.

Artists Featured:
Catherine Angel, Catherine Borg, Stephen Hendee, Rebekah Just, Lake Newton, Erin Stellmon and David Sanchez Burr

The Audacity of Desperation is an art exhibition, political action, and on-going dialogue. This show confronts, expresses and unravels states of desperation. Artworks by activists, artists, enthusiasts, and very concerned people, are made in editions of 100 with the intention of free distribution to audiences. In this way, these artworks will be activated outside of the exhibition space and in domestic spaces, on bodies, clothes, bags, and in public spaces.
